Conexon is a rapidly growing telecommunications company working with Rural Electric Cooperatives to build advanced fiber to the home (FTTH) networks nationwide. Conexon’s mission is to provide high speed internet and phone service to Rural America through its work with rural cooperatives as well as through its own internet service provider subsidiary, Conexon Connect. The Controller position would report to the CFO and have primary responsibility of managing processes around period closings and consolidations. This position will be based in the downtown Kansas City headquarters.
Requirements
Essential Functions
- Manage month-end and quarter-end closing processes
- Issue timely and accurate financial reporting
- Provide insights on key metrics, variances, and trends to support operational decisions
- Perform intercompany allocations and consolidations
- Oversee WIP and construction progress costs
- Implement financial and accounting best practices and oversee critical accounting procedures to ensure compliance with financial reporting
- Assist in annual audit process
- Cross departmental collaboration with various internal teams to ensure accuracy on invoicing for projects and capitalization of internal labor costs
- Oversee AP processes and review payments to vendors and other business partners
- Assist in grant applications and funding compliance
- Provide guidance and leadership to the accounting team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Knowledge of financial accounting and ability to adhere to general accounting principles
- Motivated and organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- High standard of personal and professional integrity
- Ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately
- Flexibility and adaptability to assume additional responsibilities and accommodate report requests from management
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience with Sage Intacct a plus
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience related to the key duties of the role
- A can-do attitude with experience leading a team and building a strong company culture
- High proficiency with spreadsheets and other analytical tools
- Experience creating and managing accounting processes with multi-entity organizations
