POSITION: Court Services Clerk
SALARY: $20.00 per hour
REPORTS TO: Chief Judge
LOCATION: Tribal Court; Nespelem, Washington
Basic Functions: This is a non-exempt position. Incumbent assists with daily clerical needs of the Tribal Court and is expected to handle highly confidential information in a professional and courteous manner. Will be expected to develop thorough knowledge of the Tribal Justice System and Law and Order Codes of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years of court services clerical or work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Requires a valid driver’s license and must be eligible for the Tribes’ vehicle insurance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires knowledge of traditional and cultural aspects of the Colville Indian Reservation (preferred).

Requires basic knowledge of ordinances, statutes, and laws within the scope of the Court’s jurisdiction.

Requires a working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment, including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, and letter and report writing.

Requires basic knowledge in Tribal Court procedures and process or willingness to learn.

Requires knowledge of electronic court management system or willingness to learn.

Requires knowledge in Microsoft Programs.

Requires knowledge in operating basic office equipment.

Requires a working knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment, including filing systems, receptionist and telephone techniques, and letter and report writing.

Requires excellent computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.

Requires skill in effective oral and written communication skills.

Must be able to function indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature.

Requires ambulatory ability to stand for extended periods of time, to use microcomputers and peripheral equipment, accomplish other desktop work.

Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone.

Requires manual and finger dexterity to write, use a pointing device and keyboard at an advanced rate, operate microcomputer, and to operate other standardized office equipment, almost constantly requiring repetitive motions.

Requires the ability to drive in adverse weather and road conditions when travel is assigned.

Requires the ability to work extended hours, weekends and to be on-call as is required of this position.

Must represent a healthy lifestyle free from non-prescribed chemicals during term of employment.

Must notify immediate supervisor of any involvement with law enforcement, which is not work related within 72 hours.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
