Connecticut Children's Office for Community Child Health (the Office) is nationally recognized as a pioneer in building partnerships across all sectors known to impact child health, development and well-being, such as housing, transportation, food and nutrition, and family support services. Such partnerships make it easier for families to access both the medical care and non-medical community supports they want, when they want them. Research shows that as much as 90 percent of child health outcomes are due to factors outside clinical care and the Office is committed to addressing those factors to help all children reach their full potential. Through the work of the Office, Connecticut Children's builds strong child- and family-serving systems and cultivates innovative and cost-effective solutions that close existing gaps in medical care and community services for children and their families. The Office has a wide variety of programs that promote optimal child health, development and well-being. The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for managing and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications plan designed to promote the Office and health system as a community resource and a leader in addressing critical health, development and well-being needs and challenges of children on the local, regional, state, national, and global levels. The Marketing and Communications Manager reports to the Senior Director of the Office's operations & strategy and has a dotted line relationship to the health systemsenior director of communications. This position primarily supports communications needs for the Office and is also responsible for communications needs related to the health system's diversity, equity and inclusion work. This position also covers tasks in additional areas of focus, as needed and assigned. Collaboration with diverse populations and stakeholders and a commitment to workplace diversity, anti-racism, and health equity is required. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Connecticut Children's Office for Community Child Health * Develops and manages strategic marketing and communications plan for the Office and its community-oriented programs in support of corporate and Office marketing strategy and positioning. * Manages all external and internal Office-related marketing and communications activities and budgets. * Identifies and tracks metrics to ensure the Office meets its marketing and communications objectives. * Serves as the marketing and communications subject matter expert to Office staff and programs. Maintains knowledge and skills by identifying and attending relevant conferences and workshops. * Serves as primary liaison with Connecticut Children's Marketing and Communications Department, ensuring alignment with corporate brand, positioning, voice and style guidelines as well as optimal internal support and determining when external resources should be engaged. * Identifies opportunities for media coverage and collaborates with health system Senior Director of Communications who handles media outreach initiatives. * Provides flexible and responsive marketing and communications services to Office programs, including identifying available services and informing programs how to request such services. * Develops, writes, edits, and distributes communications, including * Media Releases * Blogs: Managing Office's blog; identifying opportunities for Office experts to be featured on organization's blog * Social media: Managing Office's Twitter and Facebook pages; identifying opportunities for Office accomplishments to be featured on organization's primary social media channels * Email updates: Bi-monthly Advisory Board, Internal and Public updates; ad-hoc updates * Internal and external presentations; and * Award applications and organization and Office publications (e.g., Community Benefit Report, CHNA). * Updates Office content on organization website; creates and publishes new Office-related web content as needed. * Provides on-site support as needed to communications events that align with Office strategic priorities. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion * Develops and manages strategic marketing and communications plan for DEI in support of corporate marketing strategy and positioning. * Manages external and internal DEI-related marketing and communications activities and budgets, in consultation with DEI Framework Education & Awareness pillar lead and utilizing Marketing & Communications resources. * Identifies and tracks metrics to ensure DEI marketing and communications activities meet established goals and objectives. * Identifies opportunities for internal marketing and communications, including creating or informing content for the DEI intranet page, town hall reports and other presentations; and recommended speakers/panel presentations to further knowledge and awareness among team members. Publishes content to DEI intranet page, as needed. * Identifies opportunities for external marketing and communications, including creating or informing content for the DEI section of the webiste, articles for publication on organization and Office blogs, and social media posts. Publishes content to DEI section of website, as needed. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: General * Demonstrates support for the culture, mission, values, and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with Connecticut Children's standards. * Serves as primary liaison with Connecticut Children's Marketing and Communications Department for Office and DEI communications needs, ensuring optimal internal support and determining when external resources should be engaged. * Coordinates consistent messaging and communications procedures that effectively support organization and Office initiatives, reputation and business goals. * Maintains the organization and Office "brand," including imagery, messaging and protocols. Maintains and manages communication templates and publication calendars. * 5-7 years of experience in a marketing, corporate communications, journalism, or public relations environment, preferably with some health care experience. * Prior working experience and proven track record of all activities, including content development and management. * Bachelor's or Master's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or public relations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED * Ability to influence multiple audiences through various communications channels * Ability to handle multiple priorities with aggressive deadlines, delivering outstanding project management that drives and achieves results * Excellent written and verbal communications skills with proven experience developing strategic messages; examples of previous written work required * Ability to exercise strong judgment in developing and selecting audience-appropriate content and managing social media consistent with organizational priorities * Strong organizational and problem-solving skills and proven judgment and ability to handle multiple task management and technical skills * Culturally competent, ability to embody the mission of Connecticut Children's * Experience or ability to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Protected Veterans/Disabled
