Connections Personnel is hiring for a Direct Hire Bookkeeper for our client located in Scotch Plains. Company is looking for a detail oriented individual to handle all accounting duties.
The Bookkeeper for Accounts Receivable/payable manages financial processes related to garnishment orders, including tracking payments, maintaining records, and ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions.
Responsibilities:
Payment Tracking:
Monitor garnishment payment schedules, similar to managing accounts payable and receivable.
Keep detailed records of payments made and amounts still due.
Filing and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain organized files (digital and paper) for all garnishment cases.
- Update case records regularly and ensure they are easy to retrieve when needed.
- Contact employers, financial institutions, and others to ensure garnishment payments are processed.
- Answer questions about garnishments and provide updates to involved parties.
- Assist with general office tasks, such as scheduling, data entry, and preparing reports.
Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with court staff, external parties, and the public.
- Analytical skills to review documentation and identify discrepancies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable or legal administration is a plus.
- Basic understanding of financial transactions and record-keeping.
- Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word) and database systems.
Schedule: 25-35 hours a week 9am-4pm Hours can be flexible
Salary: $23-$25.00 a hour
