Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented HR Generalist and Training Specialist to join our HR team. This individual will play a dual role in supporting the daily HR operations while also developing, coordinating, and delivering training programs to enhance employee soft skills and organizational knowledge. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in HR policies and practices while also having a passion for employee development and continuous improvement.
Duties and responsibilities
HR Generalist Responsibilities
Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job ads, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and managing new hire onboarding.
Participate in college job fairs and recruiting sessions as needed.
Performs routine onboarding tasks to ensure all documents are completed and the candidate has a positive experience
Assists with the design and distribution of materials for benefits orientation, open enrollment, and other benefits communications to enhance the understanding of the company’s benefits package
Assist in performance appraisal processes, tracking employee performance, and supporting managers in providing feedback and coaching.
Reviews documentation and prepares reports relating to performance management to ensure internal deadlines are met.
Assists in the preparation for mid-year and year-end performance reviews; send reports to ensure employees and managers complete objectives.
Assists in gathering and analyzing HR data and preparing metrics for senior leadership.
Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations; ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance. Also, maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including contracts, personal information, and performance reviews.
Provide support in other HR areas, such as benefits, compensation, and employee relations, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Training Specialist Responsibilities
Create and develop training programs and materials that meet the needs of employees and the company, including training materials related to HR programs.
Design, implement, and deliver training programs for both new hires and current employees to improve soft skills and organizational awareness.
Lead and facilitate training sessions for individuals or groups.
Use various training methods such as in-person, outline, hands-on, and blended leaning approaches.
Ensure that training content is engaging, clear, and aligned with organizational goals.
Assess the effectiveness of training programs using feedback, surveys, and performance metrics.
Make recommendations for improvements to ensure continuous growth and learning.
Maintain accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and progress.
Prepare and present reports on training effectiveness and employee development progress.
Provide ongoing support and coaching to employees post-training to ensure the application of new skills and knowledge.
Help employees overcome challenges and obstacles related to their performance.
Continuously research the latest trends and technologies in training development to ensure that programs are up-to-date and relevant.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
2 or more years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist role with an emphasis on recruiting, training, and performance management activities.
At least 2 years of training experience with a focus on corporate, employee development, and / or HR training.
Ability to design engaging learning materials and programs.
Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), training software.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to develop and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and customer service to internal and external customers.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125 and DOL requirements.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems.
Working conditions
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift and carry 10 – 15 pounds at times.
