Consolidated Medical Staffing seeks a Forensic Psychologist for forensic evaluation services at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, NC. The psychologists on this service are doctoral level and conduct evaluations to determine a patient's capacity to proceed on criminal charges.
Job Description
The psychologist will conduct pretrial forensic evaluations. Key duties include:
- Conducting pretrial forensic evaluations, including outpatients, inpatients, and consultation with other hospitals
- Evaluating capacity to proceed, assessing possible use of a Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity defense, risk assessment, or other specialized types of forensic evaluation
- Advanced use and interpretation of psychological testing
- Consultation with attorneys about evaluation results
- Reporting directly to judges about evaluation results
- Testifying in court about conclusions reached in forensic evaluations
- Providing direct supervision to interns and post-doctoral fellows in the Forensic Service
This is a full-time position with normal work hours Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00 pm. Flexibility, including part-time hours, will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Extensive knowledge, skill, & ability in age-appropriate psychological testing, psychopathology, & diagnosis
- Knowledge of specific psychological tests, including tests of intellectual ability, personality, forensic specific testing, and neuropsychological screening instruments
- Knowledge of Forensic Psychology, including evaluation of competency to stand trial and NGRI defense issues
- A willingness to obtain licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270)
- Two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral

Prior experience as a licensed psychologist is preferred but not required.
