What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMK - Youth Respite Provider Needed position at Consumer Direct Care Network?
We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Respite Provider for a young boy with autism. He is verbal but tends to avoid using his voice, so communication may require patience and creativity. The ideal candidate will be calm, empathetic, and able to handle challenging situations while fostering a safe, supportive environment.
Pay: $17.66/Hour (After Tax Rate)
Location: Eau Claire, WI - In the child's home/community
Schedule: Flexible shifts - 7 hours/week available - TBD between family & provider
- Weeknights (between 5:00pm-9:00pm)
- Weekend morning/afternoons (between 10:00am-4:00pm)

Key Responsibilities:
- Behavior Support: Manage occasional physical aggression, which typically occurs in non-calm environments, and ensure the child feels safe and supported at all times.
- Personal Care: Assist with personal care tasks such as changing pull-ups and supporting hygiene as needed.
- Sound Sensitivity: Be aware of triggers, particularly loud noises and sounds, and take steps to minimize distressing stimuli.
- Elopement Prevention: Monitor and ensure safety due to a history of eloping; provide supervision in various environments.
- Activity Planning: Engage in creative, developmentally appropriate activities, taking into account the child’s size and coordination challenges.
- Food Monitoring: Ensure proper food intake and support with eating as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with autism or special needs is preferred.
- Calm and patient demeanor, with the ability to adjust to the child’s needs and environment.
- Strong communication skills, especially in non-verbal communication methods.
- Ability to think creatively for activity planning and provide safe, engaging experiences.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation - Must be comfortable driving in different weather conditions
- Willing to undergo a caregiver background check upon hire
*Must be able to successfully pass a background check before being hired. If hired, Consumer Direct Care Network (CDCN) will not be your legal employer on record. If hired by a Member or their Managing Party, your legal employer on record would be the Member. CDCN’s role is to assist the Member or Managing Party in recruiting a Direct Care Worker. The Member or Managing Party has the sole authority to hire or dismiss any potential Direct Care Worker.
