Job Overview:
We are urgently seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient caregiver to provide respite care for two wonderful children in their home. This role involves supporting a baby and a youth with special needs, and the ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have developmental and behavioral challenges. The caregiver will ensure the children's safety, engage them in appropriate activities, and assist with daily routines, all while creating a positive and loving environment.
Care is provided in the children’s home.
Wage:
$17.70/Hour
Possibility for individual respite care as needed.
Schedule:
- Flexible schedule to be arranged with the managing party (parent)
- Up to 15 hours per week
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 6 PM – 8 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one care and support for a youth with autism (non-verbal) and a baby, following individualized care plans provided by the parent.
- Assist with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
- Manage behavioral challenges with the children while maintaining a kind and professional demeanor.
- Be mindful of sensory needs, providing a calm and supportive environment.
- Safely address elopement concerns, ensuring the children remain within the home.
- Remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Maintain regular communication with the parent about important developments or concerns.
- Communicate effectively about any changes to the schedule.
- Engage the youth in meaningful activities to promote their physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being, using a word board for communication.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with autism or similar developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient monitoring and support.
- Compassionate, with excellent communication skills to foster positive relationships with the children and their family.
- Experience with preparing meals for children, including those with picky eating habits.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with the family.
Requirements:
- Comfortable assisting with personal care tasks.
- CPR certified or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
- Experience working with children with special needs.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Reliable vehicle, driver’s license, and auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a caregiver/criminal background check.
