Job Description
Continental Steel Works is a steel contractor seeking a Structural Steel Estimator. The majority of our work is in the steel construction industry. We have an opening for a Structural Steel Estimator. This will include estimating and submitting proposals.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Generates in-house takeoffs
2. Performs material take-offs, organizes data, and costs.
3. Develop a project budget.
4. Attends pre-bid meetings and/or site visits as necessary.
5. Produces pre-bid construction schedules.
6. Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors and confirms scopes.
Qualifications
- Familiar with structural steel fabrication is a plus
- 1-3 years structural steel or construction estimating experience
- Ability to read architectural and structural plans and design documents
- Understanding of estimating and job costs for steel projects is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills. Strong organizational, record-keeping, and follow-up skills.
- Willingness to learn
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
- Proficient in MS Office, with heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel
- Familiar with Tekla power-fab estimating module is a plus
- Familiar with Bluebeam Revu a plus
- Understanding of standard construction practices and procedures from award to closeout
- Familiar with AISC practices, rules, and regulations in regard to steel construction and design a plus
- Some extended hours may be required.
Job Type: Full-time - Monday – Friday – 8am – 5pm
Pay: From $47000 to $52000 per year DOE
