Job Title: Control Systems Architect
Setting new standards for industrial process automation solutions in the metropolitan New York City tristate area, Control Associates, Inc. is a premier provider of process automation systems & software, valves, measurement solutions, pressure management, and asset reliability. We are looking to hire a Control Systems Architect, and this role will be based out of our headquarters in Allendale, NJ.
Established in 1933, Control Associates along with its global process automation business partner, Emerson, specializes in supporting the process control equipment and service needs of the following industries: Life Sciences, Natural Gas Distribution & Transmission, HVAC, Power, Chemical, and Downstream Hydrocarbons.
Role: This senior resource will lead the design, development, and implementation of customer specific solutions that utilize our industry’s leading automation portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Design Leading-Edge Architecture of control systems solutions which work within specific customer system requirements, which adhere to strict hardware and software guidelines.
- Design Architecture that will thrive in a high-performance instance and provide long-term reliability.
- Will have leadership responsibilities within the various stages of these development efforts including requirement gathering/analysis, system design, hardware selection, UI, system performance, validation, and reliability/maintenance planning.
- Must function as a thought-leader for Control Associates, Inc. (CAI)
- Function as main point of contact for technical discussion with clients.
- Work directly with CAI Program/Project Management team, to set project timelines and delivery dates.
- Work efficiently with CAI Sales Management in determining project costs, including staff, hardware, and software for these customer solutions.
- Support/assist the development of customer-facing business tools, including customer service portal, automated order acknowledgement processes, and shipment/tracking notification
- Regularly perform walkdowns with Account Managers & Strategic Sales to understand client applications
- Assist on other small projects as needed, to gain a deeper understanding of client applications
- Internally communicate and resolve customer satisfaction issues as required and suggest process improvements where warranted.
- Assist Sales and Business Unit management teams with achieving Emerson initiatives
- Other responsibilities, as needed.
- This resource is required to travel to customers all within the NYC Tri-State Area
- This resource must satisfactorily complete formal trainings for Control Associates, Inc., as well as various Emerson formalized trainings
- Normal Working Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Reports To: Sales Manager, Systems & Software
Prerequisites:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required. Preferred majors are mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering
- 8 years working with Control Systems, must have leadership experience within some of the following, HMI, PLCs, MES, and SCADA
- 5 years’ experience designing solutions within control systems industry
- 5 years of Software architecture experience and/or field experience with L2 & L3 software installations is required
· Control Systems experience with Emerson Automation portfolio preferred. Experience with some of the following vendors may also be of interest, Rockwell, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi, and/or Yokogawa
· As a lead the Architect, She/He must have exceptional organizational and time management skills, as well as excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
· She/He must be adept with Microsoft Office Suite applications, and experience with CRMs & any ERP tool experience is preferred.
· This engineer must be a collaborator & customer advocate and can be a clear communicator.
· Must have excellent organizational skills to organize a clear and concise solution that can be understood under indirect context.
· This resource must Understand customer perspective and satisfy customer needs.
· This Engineer must display strong time management, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
· Must excel as a leader in a team-based environment.
· This resource must maintain strong relationships with our customers, principals, Account Managers, Sales Engineers, Sales Associates, and services personnel to enable support of the product and service needs of our customers.
· Must be a constant learner and keep updated on a broad range of client-specific software solutions and product lines
· Must take initiative to continuously learn about customer applications and new market solutions.
