Are you a skilled professional with experience in low voltage estimating and design engineering? Control Systems, Inc. is looking for a Sales Engineer who can combine the roles of a Low Voltage Estimator and a Design Engineer. In this position, you will support our Account Executives in preparing sales estimates and designing low voltage systems. If you're detail-oriented, organized, and have a background in low voltage systems for commercial construction, we'd like to hear from you.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multiple Account Executives on various projects to prepare takeoffs, labor and material estimates by reviewing blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Develop accurate and detailed estimates of material quantities and labor costs for the installation of low voltage systems, including fire alarm, access control, video, intrusion, structured cable, and 2-way communication systems.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Utilize CAD drawings to enhance project design.
  • Demonstrate self-discipline, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, success-driven, with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical resource for the field sales force.
  • Drive and manage the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working closely with the Sales and Operations teams as the key technical advisor.
  • Articulate technology and product positioning.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle.
  • Support the design of Control Systems, Inc. Fire Alarm, Intrusion Security, CCTV, and Card Access Systems in accordance with company protocols.
  • Receive project specifications from Sales Representatives and design system blueprints.
  • Choose appropriate products and installation methods for cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare all required submittals for efficient hand-off to operations.
  • Participate in sales and operations meetings to evaluate the accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout.
  • May conduct initial job site walk-throughs as requested.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in low voltage estimating and design engineering.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment with knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, focused, deadline-oriented, and able to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to multitask and stay focused in a high-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude.

Education/Certification

  • Associates degree in Electronics or other technical field or equivalent experience.
  • NICET Fire Alarm Certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in commercial security systems design.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of engineering/systems or related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.
  • Proficiency in programming, job start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheet, project management, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fully proficient and independent design skills.
  • Understands the process of construction projects and the requirements for documenting changes or deviations to specifications.
