Position Summary:
The Specialty Pharmacy Manager is responsible for leading daily operations and oversight of specialty pharmacy activities in a manner that successfully and consistently meets pharmacy objectives. This position will work directly with the director of specialty pharmacy for setting strategies for future pharmacy growth, supervision of specialty pharmacy staff, and ensuring the financial stability of the pharmacy.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school required
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of pharmacy experience required as a licensed pharmacist.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience serving as pharmacist in charge (PIC).
- Previous experience in regulatory compliance and ambulatory business development preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Currently licensed Pharmacist by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy in good standing required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership in product preparation, medication closing, and providing patient-specific drug information.
- Works with the leadership team, pharmacy staff, and external stakeholders to innovate high-quality, cost-effective pharmacy services delivery methods.
- Supervises pharmacy staff involved in the pharmacy workflow including, training, data entry, verification and dispensing of medications.
- Plans and develops customer-focused pharmacy systems and services to meet changing needs.
- Ensures outstanding customer service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Co-Manages the assigned specialty pharmacy budget, including volumes, drugs, and overhead expenses with director.
- Reviews, prepares, and dispenses prescribed medications, provides drug information, and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and organization policies.
- Ensures annual review and update of patient education material as necessary.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient information and their records, and destruction of relevant documentation which contains patient information.
- Coordinates, monitors, and manages pharmacy operations while maintaining all safety and compliance regulations.
- Coordinates pharmacy resources and actively participates in cost control initiatives.
- Creates ad hoc reports for management.
- Assists in the development of a management reporting dashboard.
- Oversees daily dispensing and call center operations.
- Delivers in-service training and education to staff members in a group setting.
- Complete other duties as assigned by department leadership.
