Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring timely payments and collections. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills and a solid understanding of corporate accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Perform data entry tasks to maintain up-to-date financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts payable and receivable activities.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate billing and payment processes.
- Maintain compliance with governmental accounting standards as required.
- Direct Calls in a professional manner
- Open and date/time stamp incoming mail
- Apply all payments received daily.
- Research and resolve all discrepancies in a timely manner
- Prepare bank deposits
- Maintain pending and paid receivable files
- Perform all monthly payment verifications as required
- Verify and process invoices to customers daily
- Perform end of month procedures including production of monthly statements
- Coordinate special projects (bulk mailing, annual calendars, golf outings, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned
This is a full time position with no supervisory responsibilities
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or corporate accounting roles.
- Strong technical accounting skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Familiarity with journal entries and double entry bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
