Description
Now Hiring: Controller (a.k.a. Finance Wizard Facilities Guru)
Location: Indoors, cozy office vibes
Reports to: Our fantastic COO/CFO
Salary Range: $88,800–$125,000 (because your skills deserve it)
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Who We’re Looking For:
Are you equal parts spreadsheet superstar and strategic thinker? Do you love the thrill of a balanced budget and the satisfaction of a well-run facility? We’re looking for a Controller who’s ready to take charge of our accounting operations and facilities management like a boss.
This isn’t just a behind-the-scenes number cruncher gig. You’ll lead our finance team, champion accuracy and compliance, keep our systems humming, and even weigh in on big-picture planning. Plus, you’ll make sure our buildings are safe, sound, and running smoothly.
What You’ll Be Rocking Every Day:
Accounting & Financial Management
You’ll lead the charge in:
- Guiding and growing our small but mighty finance team
- Managing everything from payroll and payables to budgeting and closing
- Reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements like a pro
- Keeping us audit-ready and tax-compliant
- Maintaining accounting systems (we use Sage & Avatax, among others)
- Helping leaders understand the numbers and make informed decisions
- Supporting internal audits and tracking all the little (and big) things—capital assets, inventory, credit cards, patronage payments, and more
Facilities Management
Think of it as your side quest:
- Overseeing facility ops across locations
- Working with vendors, landlords, and team leads to keep things running smoothly
- Planning facility budgets and large purchases
- Keeping us compliant with safety and building regs
- Serving on the Safety Committee (don’t worry, there are snacks)
What You Bring to the Table:
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices
- Leadership chops and a collaborative mindset
- Comfort juggling multiple priorities and deadlines
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and accounting systems
- Keen attention to detail and a strong sense of integrity
- A love for solving problems, supporting others, and making the complex simple
You’ve Got the Experience:
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or a related field
- 5 years in accounting roles
- 3 years managing people
- Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management
Bonus points for:
- CPA certification
- 5 years in public accounting
- Experience with Sage 100
- Payroll and sales tax knowledge
You’ll Also:
- Recruit and develop team talent
- Track departmental performance
- Set clear goals and provide feedback
- Handle the tough stuff when needed (discipline, terminations, etc.—with support)
The Work Environment:
- Office setting, low noise, good coffee
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs, but that’s rare)
- Lots of screen time, so bring your blue light glasses
Travel? Barely.
- Less than 10%—you’ll mostly stay local
A Note on Nondiscrimination:
We believe in equal opportunity and making our workplace accessible to everyone. Need accommodations? No problem. Just reach out to HR at 507.437.2400. We’ve got you.
