Job Description
Core Fiber Partners is seeking skilled and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as an Outside Plant Technician. As an Outside Plant Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and related infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of our fiber network while ensuring the highest quality of service for our customers.
The role includes:
- Install, splice, and maintain fiber optic cables and related infrastructure in the outside plant environment within the designated local markets.
- Perform pre-installation surveys and assessments to determine the optimal routes and locations for fiber optic installations.
- Excavate, trench, and lay fiber optic cables underground or aerially, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
- Conduct fusion splicing and connectorization of fiber optic cables, ensuring low signal loss and high-quality connections.
- Use specialized tools and equipment to perform OTDR testing, power meter measurements, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks.
- Perform fiber optic cable terminations, including the installation of connectors, closures, and splitters.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of network issues, ensuring timely restoration of service and minimizing downtime.
- Accurately document all installation, maintenance, and repair activities, including equipment records and network documentation.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to local regulations and industry standards during all outside plant operations.
- Collaborate with the local team, including other technicians and contractors, to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery.
- Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional and customer-centric manner.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to outside plant operations.
- Fulfill any other duties assigned by the Regional Field Operations Manager or General Manager for the region.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Prior experience in outside plant operations, fiber optic installations, coax, or telecommunications is preferred.
- Strong technical skills and ability to use specialized tools and equipment for fiber optic installations and splicing.
- Knowledge of fiber optic cable types, connectors, and industry standards for outside plant installations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications related to outside plant infrastructure.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate documentation and record-keeping.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities for identifying and resolving network issues.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing time and priorities effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and interact with customers.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites within the designated local markets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
