Operations Manager Trainee Job Summary
The Operations Manager Trainee (OMT) program prepares individuals to become frontline Route Managers. The role involves hands-on training in day-to-day operations, employee coaching, and process optimization. Most of the workday is spent in the field, interacting with frontline employees. At the end of the training program, candidates must be open to relocation within a specified geographic area.
Operations Manager Trainee Responsibilities
- Build relationships with frontline employees through consistent touchpoints.
- Review best practices to enhance daily performance.
- Partner with drivers and technicians to develop job-related skills.
- Complete all assigned training curriculum.
- Practice and refine coaching conversations with employees.
- Work with managers across various departments to understand business operations, including fleet management, sales, dispatch, and routing.
- Learn about safety regulations (DOT and OSHA), operational processes, performance management, and fleet maintenance.
- May involve periodic leadership or management responsibilities during the program.
