As an RN Charge Nurse in a Med/Surg unit, you provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for patients with complex medical diagnoses and surgical needs.
The 22-bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital specializes in caring for patients with complex medical diagnoses and general surgery patients. Nurses are drawn to this unit for its variety of patients and skills utilized.
You will work with a strong team focused on delivering coordinated, compassionate care and continuously seeking to improve patient outcomes through ongoing education and quality improvement efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care and adheres to health system policies, procedures, and ANA/regulatory standards.
- Demonstrates a high standard of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior, using the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide practice.
- Assesses the overall needs of patients and analyzes assessment data to identify potential diagnoses or issues.
- Develops and implements an individualized interprofessional plan of care that recommends strategies to achieve expected outcomes in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice.
- Ensures required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assumes an autonomous leadership role and delegates appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel to facilitate safe, quality patient care in a cost-effective manner.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree Nursing
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program
- NURSINGRegistered Nurse (RN) State of Michigan - Upon Hire
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - Within 90 Days of hire
