In support of this goal, we are looking for an Eye Recovery Technician based in the Greater Sacramento area to join our team. What does an Eye Recovery Technician do? The Eye Recovery Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that the gift of donation is honored through the timely and thoughtful procurement of ocular tissues for corneal transplant. Essential duties and responsibilities are noted below. This position requires travel from a home location to various medical facilities in the Greater Sacramento area. Tissue Recovery: Surgically procure donated human ocular tissue from cadavers (donors) following aseptic technique. Draw blood from donors to send for serologic testing. Obtain medical records from hospitals. Utilize computer software to complete real-time documentation of procured tissue.  Participate in on-call schedule for ocular tissue recoveries Recovery Support Tasks: Maintain confidentiality of donor related information. Employ pre-determined shipping methods of recovered ocular tissue. Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, shipping supplies, and other equipment provided to complete recoveries. Performs other duties as needed or assigned. What else should I know about this position? This is an hourly, on-call position, scheduled for a minimum of 1-2 shifts/week; the weekly schedule will likely include weekends. Due to the nature of this work, this position is 100% in-person – remote work is not available for this role. What if I’ve never done this type of work before? Not a problem! We will provide on-the-job training to give you the skills and knowledge needed to become an Eye Recovery Technician! What we ask of you is: Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience required Your previous work experience demonstrates that you can collaborate with others on a team, have a strong attention to detail, and can communicate effectively (written, verbal, etc.) within a professional work environment. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures. Ability to work under pressure and time constraints. Ability to maintain a good attendance record. Ability to provide at least 2 shifts of availability within a 7-day schedule. Reliable transportation to and from recovery sites, laboratory and/or shipping facilities. What compensation and benefits do you offer?The Eye Recovery Technician position is an unrestricted, on-call position. The minimum wage for this position is $19.00 hourly (or greater as required by local minimum wage) and the maximum wage is $21.00 hourly. Individual compensation will vary within this range based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience as they relate to the requirements for this position as well as geographic location. In addition to the hourly rate, this position will receive $4.00 an hour for each hour scheduled to be “on-call”. This position is also available for individual, flat-rate compensation which is variable based on the specific recovery.
