The position Recruiter is responsible for serving as the primary point of contact for students/participants, families, faculty and staff in the areas of recruitment and enrollment and as a conduit to other offices/services the participant/student may need while enrolled in the Manufacturing or Battery Tech programs. The hallmark of this position is to provide seamless assistance and exceptional customer service through personalized support and attention that fosters engagement with Corning Community College for enrollment functions. This position is directly responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of students into the Manufacturing Tech and Battery Storage Programs. This includes providing assistance to students and families from the enrollment process through the duration of the course. Extensive work at different CCC locations and in the community will be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Able to travel as needed. Indoor/Office/Lab environment with occasional need to work in outdoor events.

Essential Functions

Recruitment and Advising - 50%

  • Recruiting includes but not limited to posting flyers in the surrounding area, reaching out to regional school guidance counselors, attend recruiting events, and follow-ups with students and families after finishing the program.
  • Maintaining the student registration database, analysis of enrollment data, assisting families through the process, managing the scholarship process and representing the programs at recruiting events.
  • Follow-up with students after they graduate the program.
  • Generate prospect leads and provide prospective students/participants and their families/friends with pertinent information for making an informed decision regarding enrollment
  • Participate in internal and external recruitment events, as assigned, to promote CCC to prospective students/participants, parents, and regional employers and to promote and encourage enrollment at CCC.
  • Attend ongoing professional development training to develop and maintain essential knowledge and skills that are essential to the program.
  • Coordinate manufacturing tours and interviews with local industry.
  • Answer phones and emails from prospective and current families.
  • Recruit and guide participants through the enrollment process.
  • Identify trends, foster improvements in decision-making and troubleshoot enrollment issues.
  • Manage the tuition assistance/scholarship process.
  • Prepare and assist with data gathering and analysis.
  • Represent Corning Community College at scholarship meetings, open houses, camp fairs and events.
  • Support the administrative needs of the Manufacturing Tech director and organizational support.
Onboarding - 15%
  • Involved with the student/participant interview process
  • Be part of the student/participant selection process
  • Assist students/participants and families with associated paperwork for a seamless enrollment.
Outreach - 15%
  • Follow all college guidelines to support the instructor in course delivery, student conduct, and administration.
  • Maintain contact with applicants utilizing all available communication tools to ensure completion of the enrollment process and increase yield of accepted students/participants.
  • Assist in the classroom as needed.
  • Participate in proactive outreach activities to engage and retain newly admitted and continuing students/participants through contact management; these activities may include calling prospective and newly admitted students/participants, scheduling appointments for one-on-ones/interviews, recruitment, advising/registration, and providing basic guidance on the financial aspect of enrollment.
  • Encourage successful students/participants to continue on in one of the accredited programs offered through the college (if participant(s) demonstrate interest).
Processing - 10%
  • Organize and track status of designated prospective students/participants through the stages of inquiry, and enrollment.
  • Collect course scores and feedback
  • Periodically follow-up with participants after completing the course.
Planning - 5%
  • Travel planning, site visits, On-Campus programming (Open House, Counselor Info Days, etc.).
  • Coordinate/lead activities central to program implementation and training of staff/student ambassadors in the use and resolution of issues/problems/challenges.
  • Serve as liaison to academic divisions in order to keep current on program offerings/changes, updates on advising information in the STEAM division.
Miscellaneous - 5%
  • Assist in the classroom as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Highly motivated, High degree of honesty and ethical standards

  • Effective presentation skills - Detail oriented
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively and efficiently in a team environment, as well as being a self-starter who is able to prioritize time and activities, show initiative, and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand academic policies and keep current on policy changes
  • Ability to analyze and understand the interrelationship of all enrollment services areas (registration, financial aid, bursar, academic processes, advising and admissions)
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations
  • Must have reliable transportation to work occasional shifts at the Elmira Center
  • Must be able to work evenings/weekends, as needed
  • Demonstrates commitment to accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner
  • Ability to effectively convey information verbally and in writing, demonstrate effective listening skills,
    and display respect for and openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts
  • Ability to accept changes to job requirements, policies, workload, etc., as well as learn new methods, procedures, or techniques resulting from change with the ability to clearly approach problems and find solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree
  • Experience in student enrollment or work-related field working directly with consumers

Preferred Qualification:
  • Notary Public registration
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience in recruiting, sales or marketing.
Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including, but not limited to relevant experience, education, market demands, and training.
