The VP of Sales is a key sales leadership role at Corporate Interiors. The primary responsibility of this role is to expand our business at existing accounts and develop new business. The VP of Sales will be responsible for driving business at designated existing accounts and targeted new accounts and has direct responsibility for their Sales team across CI’s market. Acts as a role model and authority with respect to the implementation of all CI policies and procedures with the objective of providing an engaging, positive, respectful, and productive work environment while meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations. 

Accountabilities include overall direction, coordination, and sales performance including: training, recruiting, and team development; inspiring and motivating a commissioned based sales force. Demonstrates high expectations for customer service and develops goals/objectives to achieve results.

  • Oversees workplace consultants and sales associates on their team.

Management:

  • Provides strong leadership, communication, and direction to each sales representative in the assigned team in order to develop their maximum potential. 
  • Engages the sales team on a day-to-day basis through leadership, communication, motivation, listening, and coaching to ensure sales representatives exceed their stated goals and objectives.
  • Supervises and evaluates their daily activities while providing advice, counsel, and guidance in the resolution of routine and complex problems.   
  • Constantly assesses sales representatives’ behavior, motivation, and drive.
  • Maintains necessary staffing levels and resource requirements for existing and future business needs. 
  • Maintains appropriate bench strength in order to meet business needs.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, development, and retention of all assigned sales representatives. 
  • Responsible for the creation of sales representatives’ development plans, training objectives, and career growth.
  • Develops team and individual communication, presentation, and sales skills; drives the appropriate behaviors to ensure success. 
  • Trains reps on standard practices, policies, pricing, and products with support from other departments and vendors. 
  • Assesses training needs of team in coordination with HR and training programs to address such needs. 
  • Oversees and directs assigned sales representatives’ compensation, performance reviews, discipline, and discharge. 
  • Trains sales representatives on how to establish develop new accounts.
  • Schedules and leads team sales meetings.
  • Instills discipline, corporate values, and a consistent/ transparent sales process into assigned sales representatives.
  • Supervises sales representatives’ development and delivery of sales presentations and bid responses. 
  • Ensures sales representatives comply with CI’s Credit and Collections policy and procedures; serves as a liaison between Customer and Credit and Collections to resolve any and all issues. 
  • Sales, Strategy and Plans:
  • Develops and executes written account plans for major CI accounts as well as targeted competitive accounts
  • Develops high level customer relationships at the VP and C suite level and also with key customer influencers
  • Aligns sales representatives and customers to properly create/execute sales strategies and nurture key relationships. 
  • Coaches and develops sales representatives to obtain new product orders for CI’s entire portfolio by servicing existing accounts through continuous needs analysis and follow-up. 
  • Develops and maintains social and professional relationships with customers, reps, A&D firms, brokers, etc.
  • Meets and exceeds all financial and non-financial sales objectives.
  • Contributes to the development of long-range goals and objectives. 
  • Prepares sales forecasts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Develops annual quotas and budgets. 
  • Participates in routine reviews and financial performance analysis to determine team progress and profitability. 
  • Maintains communication with executive management by submitting planning reports, team activity reports, and project updates. 
  • Discusses performance with EVP Sales & Marketing to review results and discuss required changes in goals/objectives attributed to current business environments.
  • Actively participates in and contributes to the Sales Leadership Team as well as CI’s Growth Business Excellence Team (BET)
  • Reviews team sales quotes based on authorization guidelines. Approves pricing, margin, and adherence to company policies. 
  • Participates in cross-functional company meetings and as a member of company, tasks teams to share ideas and enhance profits/productivity. 
  • Maintains own professional and technical knowledge by attending company and vendor sponsored educational and product workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  • Ensures smooth installation and punch list completion by supervising sales representatives’ communications with Sales Support, Project Management, and Operations—negotiating needs and deadlines.
  • Ensures clients’ needs are met in a timely fashion and that subordinates comply with CI policy and procedures by regularly reviewing order management reports, i.e., backlog, po’s not acknowledged, orders awaiting action, goods expected not received, goods received not delivered. 


Requirements

  

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business or related field. 
  • 10 years of experience with measurable success in leading a sales organization or sales team.
  • Excellent PC skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Outlook, and Hedberg.
  • Thorough knowledge of business cycle and budget management.
  • Proven leadership and management ability, demonstrating innovation, flexibility, and best-in-class attributes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in forecasting, strategizing, and achieving market and sales objectives.
  • MBA in Business or related field highly desired. 
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills.
  • Must be a “hands-on” manager who is directly involved with customers and developing winning proposals. 
  • Must be very comfortable with pricing and developing pricing strategy.
  • Highly disciplined and consistent in the enforcement of sales and operational guidelines/procedures.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Ability to creatively problem solve and exercise good business judgment
  • Motivational expertise, acts to inspire employees, and consistently displays initiative.
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks/deadlines; ability to prioritize workflow in a multi-task environment
  • Fluency and expertise in negotiation – understanding company service and product economics, and possessing the ability to educate/guide staff in its execution.
  • Educator, driver, and motivator for profitable sales and margins.
  • Understands the quality of a sale and can expertly teach/implement high quality sales philosophy and methodology.
  • Highly detail oriented with solid organizational and administrative abilities
  • Highly polished and professional in appearance, and in all oral and written expressions.
  • Ability to effectively conduct business with all levels in the organization.
