JOB SUMMARY
This position reports to the Division Order Manager. The Division Order Analyst - Suspense / Escheat is responsible for reviewing suspense reports, researching and curing complex title issues, overseeing Interpleader actions, ensuring compliance of escheat laws and cycles and other issues as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and review monthly suspense and interest payment reports.
- Research and review complex title issues for timely resolution or determine to Interplead or other necessary actions to resolve the title issue(s).
- Work with brokers and outside council as needed on curing title issues.
- Work with outside service provider to assist and ensure compliance of escheat laws and the escheat cycles.
- Effectively and cooperatively interfaces with other departments within the company, including but not limited to, the Business Units, Accounting and Legal.
- Assist with special projects such as data audits, and acquisition and divestitures to confirm accuracy of data and compliance with state and federal statutes.
- Coordinates with the Business Units to obtain title opinions and related instruments to address curative issues.
- Review, research and provide recommendations for the suspense funds ledger and the stale dated check report to release funds, if applicable.
- Other duties and special projects as required.
Job requirements
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Division Order Analyst curing title issues and working escheat cycles.
- Experienced with a land management software system, preferably Tobin Land System or P2 Land.
- Knowledgeable with regards to complex lease and title issues, preferably in the Permian Basin, Anadarko Basin or Marcellus Shale.
- Established proficiency with Microsoft Office required, with emphasis on Excel, Word and Teams.
- Must be goal oriented, approaching projects with a sense of urgency and drive.
- Must be a team player who possesses the ability to adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- 4-year college degree required, preferably in finance, accounting, or business
- CDOA preferred, law degree a plus
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Division Order Analyst curing title issues and working escheat cycles.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Less than 5% Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting and standing.
In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothing is required.
Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
