Director of Resident Engagement

Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our personal care home. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical well-being among seniors. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of aging issues and be passionate about fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
• Organize and oversee daily activities including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and outings.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure that all activities are safe, enjoyable, and accessible for residents with varying abilities.
• Conduct assessments to identify residents' interests and preferences to enhance participation.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and feedback on activities to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Foster relationships with local community organizations to create opportunities for resident involvement.
• Provide support and assistance to residents during activities as needed, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Requirements

• Experience in personal care home setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of aging issues and caregiving practices is essential.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan engaging programs that cater to diverse interests.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
• A compassionate approach towards senior care and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by this population.
