What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Kennel Technician position at Country Place Veterinary Clinic?
Kennel Technician.
Part-Time position requiring a highly motivated, organized self-starter that will work equally well with people and pets.
** Qualifications include but not limited to:
- High School Diploma or GED
- reliable transportation
- ability to work weekends and holidays
- excellent reading/comprehension/legible writing skills
- ability to work with people and pets in a variety of situations
- quick thinking in problem solving with rational and effective decisions
- compassion for clients, patients, and fellow staff members
- team mentality
- willingness to learn veterinary software, protocols, techniques and to handle/perform duties of the clinic as needed.
- effective negotiations with difficult people
- Willing to perform bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, standing/walking on non-cushioned floor; typing, writing, balancing, twisting, squatting and rotating throughout the day. Frequent movements from sitting to standing are also common.
- Ability to learn restraining animals up to 200 pounds, lift animals up to 40 pounds and lift animals over 40 pounds with help. Lifting items up to 40 pounds is also common.
**Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Obtaining detailed history, necessary diagnostic information/samples, appropriate treatments
- Working diagnostic lab equipment/preparing diagnostic samples
- Routine/daily housekeeping duties including vacuuming, mopping, cleaning kennels
- Restraining pets including potentially aggressive dogs and cats
