Essential Functions
What You’ll Do:
Key Responsibilities
As an EMS Billing Specialist, you will:
- Review patient care reports to ensure accurate documentation and billing compliance.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and provide feedback to improve EMS reporting.
- Work with hospitals to obtain insurance information and resolve claim discrepancies.
- Assist in developing training materials, policies, and procedures for proper documentation.
- Generate QA reports and notify supervisors of any concerns, including potential fraud.
Typical Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- 1 year experience in medical billing, healthcare quality assurance, and/or health insurance processing.
- Proficient in electronic patient care reporting systems (i.e., ImageTrend or other ePCR) and Microsoft suites.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and ability to collaborate with stakeholders and patients.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications from the National Academy of Ambulance Compliance, such as Certified Ambulance Coder, Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer, and Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CAC) within the first year.
