What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Treasurer II - Revenue Associate position at County of Greene Treasurer's Office?
Job Summary:
Performs complex skilled work assisting with the operation of the Treasurer's Office to effectively collect all County revenues including the proper recording of those revenues.
Essential Functions:
· Provide exceptional customer service.
· Accurately process and collect payments from citizens to include real estate and personal property tax, water and sewer bills, dog/kennel tags, business licenses, meals and lodging taxes, as well as, processing funds from county departments and other government agencies.
· Ensure all monies deposited have an associated transmittal and are accurate. Researching/resolving any issues with various county departments regarding EDI, ACH, and grant payments.
· Reconcile cash, checks, charges and receipts; update systems with necessary changes to balance register daily, and daily filing. Process daily close.
· Assists with any customer service issues: research accounts, prepare necessary paperwork, communication with citizens, escalate accordingly.
· Answer phone calls, return voicemails, emails, and other form of communication in a timely manner to assist citizens and county departments as needed.
· Maintain correct citizen information as needed; updated addresses, phone numbers, or other pertinent contact information.
· Collections – research and resolve NSF payments, and assigns/removes DMV account holds accordingly.
· Provides coverage/support for other deputies as needed.
· Ad hoc projects; additional duties as assigned by Treasurer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and skill relating to methods and practices of accounting; general knowledge of modern business management, office practices and office equipment; considerable analytical ability to select, evaluate and interpret data from several sources, including interpretation of guidelines, and policies and procedures; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. Skilled with remaining calm under pressure, ability to deescalate difficult situations, and provide necessary information in a consistent manner.
Education and Experience:
Associates degree (or equivalent) with coursework in business, accounting, public administration or related field, and 3 – 5 years related career experience, including customer service, cash handling experience, and reconciliation duties.
