What are the responsibilities and job description for the THERAPEUTICS PROGRAM COORDINATOR (WEEKEND PROGRAM) position at County of Greenville?
Coordinates the operations and implementation of the County's Camp Spearhead Weekend Program; creates, publishes and distributes schedules, program information and related collateral materials; recruits and trains volunteers; processes registrations; enters, maintains and updates medical information into computer database; maintains inventory of equipment and supplies; ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures; communicates with participants, family members, volunteers, venues, and others regarding programs.
Coordinates in the planning, managing and execution of activities and operations for Camp Spearhead Residential Summer Camp for individuals with disabilities: attends planning meetings; plans and leads staff recruiting, hiring, and training; supervises and assists with camper care and camp programming; coordinates waterfront and pool lifeguard certifications and all waterfront/pool activities; coordinates the Camper Worker Program; and ensures safety and care of all campers and staff. Serves as an Administrator on Duty.
Supervises regular and temporary staff and volunteers: plans, coordinates, assigns and reviews work of individuals and the team; evaluates training needs and provides instruction; schedules staff vacations and approves sick leave; recommends discipline, disciplinary actions, discharge and salary increases; approves timesheets; interviews candidates; conducts employee performance evaluations; assists in the recruitment of seasonal staff and volunteers; and establishes and promotes employee morale.
Organizes, prioritizes and assigns work: creates and distributes employee work schedules ensuring adequate coverage and control; ensures subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex or problem situations and provide technical expertise; trains and instructs employees regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; assists with revising procedure manuals as appropriate; and provides progress and activity reports to supervisor.
Coordinates volunteer recruitment and supervision: attends and communicates with recruiting and networking events, volunteer organizations and university programs; interviews prospective volunteers; processes and ensures clearance of Class A volunteer applications; schedules and directs volunteer meetings; processes, updates, and maintains waivers and codes of conduct; ensures completion of general orientation and protective behaviors training; and updates and maintains volunteer files.
Coordinates and maintains vehicles (passenger vehicles, mini-buses and school buses) ensuring vehicles are properly and regularly maintained; coordinates maintenance with the County Vehicle Service Center.
Coordinates financial management and evaluation of programs: monitors program accounts to ensure funding for planned programs and activities and compliance with budget parameters; monitors revenue; receives and reviews account information.
Functions as GCPRT’s Inclusion Coordinator overseeing implementation of recommended actions to make facilities, programs, and activities inclusive and accessible.
Requires programming on multiple weekends and evenings.
Additional Functions:
Performs other related duties as required. This position requires weekend and overnight duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field required; supplemented by three years of experience in implementing sports programming for special needs populations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Special License(s) or Certification(s) Required: Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license. Must possess and maintain (or obtain when hired): First Aid and CPR, and Lifeguard Certifications.
