About the Position :
Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical duties in support of the department’s information systems; provides technical support to users; manages network system infrastructure and server architecture; troubleshoots hardware and software problems associated with the department’s computers and related equipment; installs hardware equipment and software applications.  


Steps (A -E)
Information Systems Specialist I:
$31.04 - $37.73 Hourly / $2,483.20 - $3,018.40 Biweekly
Information Systems Specialist II:
$34.26 - $41.65 Hourly / $2,740.80 - $3,332.00 Biweekly

Information Systems Specialist I:
  • Performs network administration and maintenance functions, including configuring and installing network communication devices such as routers, switches, access devices, and firewalls.
  • Monitors the performance of the network system; tracks possible problem areas affecting response time and prepares recommendations for correction of problems and improvement in performance; writes related reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Information Systems Specialist II:
  • Provides consulting advice and technical expertise to department regarding software needs analysis, evaluation of proposed solutions, systems integration, and solutions implementations; identifies and recommends appropriate standards or specialized hardware or software to meet the County’s needs.
  • Designs project plans by organizing and scheduling programming needs to meet design objectives; utilizes flow charts, diagrams, data sets, and file descriptions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Information Systems Specialist I  |   Information Systems Specialist II

 
Information Systems Specialist I & II:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and an Information Technology Career Certification such as CCNA, CCDA, MCP, SCNA, SCSA, or other applicable certifications. 
In addition to the above:
Information Systems Specialist I -
  • One (1) year of responsible computer systems, systems analysis, network management, or related experience is required. 
Information Systems Specialist II -
  • Three (3) years of applications software analysis, design and programming, including experience in application development with an online interactive database system. 
 Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. 

License and Special Requirements:
  •  Requires a valid California driver's license.

The department is recruiting for one (1) vacancy.

In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Information Systems Specialist I/II, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.

Testing Dates:  February 11-14, 2025. Tests will be provided via email.

Tentative Interview Dates :
 1st:  Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm (Mezzanine Room)
2nd:  Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
*Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to interview.

In compliance with current regulations in the state of California, this position does not require employees to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination, although it is highly recommended.

New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
