What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reinsurance Underwriting Assistant position at County Reinsurance, Limited?
Position Overview: Responsible for delivering administrative support to underwriting functions and various departments across the office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides administrative support in underwriting functions, including data entry, policy maintenance, and member assistance.
- Assists in the preparation and processing of reinsurance applications.
- Assists in the preparation and issuance of binders, endorsements, and reinsurance policies.
- Coordinates with accounting department on invoicing.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly bordereau and other reinsurance reporting.
- Manages and assists with member inquiries.
- Assists in collecting, managing, and verifying member underwriting information.
- Manages updates to member statements of values and other schedule changes, as necessary.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records, such as policies and premiums, within the applicable system.
- Requests follow-ups from members according to established timelines.
- Provides support and guidance on various projects throughout the office as assigned.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Risk Management, Insurance) preferred.
Experience
Previous experience in insurance or reinsurance underwriting support is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
- Solid math skills including the ability to calculate figures accurately and efficiently.
- Analytical and interpretive skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to reason, solve practical problems, and interpret a variety of information and instructions.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and external customers.
- Proficiency in working effectively in a team environment, when working independently and when working offsite or remotely.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office and other system products.
- Strong knowledge of excel required.
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
