We are seeking a compassionate and organized Peer Support to join our team in Gallup, NM. This role is ideal for someone with lived experience in mental health or substance use recovery who is passionate about providing peer support and ensuring a welcoming front desk experience for our clients. The ideal candidate must be fluent in Diné (Navajo) and English to effectively communicate with the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide peer support and encouragement to clients in a welcoming and non-judgmental manner.
- Greet and assist clients at the front desk, ensuring a positive and professional atmosphere.
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage client check-ins.
- Assist with administrative duties such as data entry, filing, and maintaining records.
- Facilitate communication between clients and service providers, offering language assistance in Diné when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
- Support outreach and community engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Some college or related training is a plus.
- Peer Support Certification.
- Fluency in Diné (Navajo) and English (spoken and written).
- Have lived experience in recovery of a substance use disorder
- Have been in recovery for at least three years.
- Knowledge and understanding of substance use disorders
- Experience working in a support or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare or community service setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with mental health and substance use recovery resources.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, scheduling software).
- Obtain CPR certification within 6 months of hire
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly
