About the Role
As the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services, you will provide strategic leadership and accountability for the execution of our local and system-wide patient care strategy. Your focus will be on delivering excellence in clinical quality, financial stewardship, evidence-based practices, regulatory readiness, clinical education, and workforce management.
You will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team reporting to the President of St. Joseph Healthcare. Together, you will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in clinical care, education, and research while always prioritizing our patients and the communities we serve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements the vision, priorities and strategic plan that is facility based, for patient care services that is aligned with the local and Covenant strategic plan. Operational objectives are put in place to support the above strategies.
- Participates in the development of clinical policies that reflect evidence based practice, best practices and advances the quality of patient care while meeting regulatory requirements
- Oversees clinical quality while assuring that each clinicians understands the clinical priorities of the system and the entity.
- Demonstrates a commitment to Patient and Family Centered Care
- Develops, implements and monitors the yearly budget for patient care services along with a one to three year capital strategy. Demonstrates sound fiscal behaviors such as development of performas and management of labor productivity systems.
- Plans, implements and evaluates effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of service and programs within areas of responsibility.
- Plans and leads staffing initiatives, including recruitment, supervision, evaluation and development of staff.
- Organizes, directs, and administers all patient care services. Participates in professional organizations, community organizations, and is responsible for self-development through continuing education programs.
- Demonstrates a commitment to excellence through continuous improvement by actively participating in and supporting the performance improvement process.
- Actively supports and holds team accountable for survey readiness, ensuring current knowledge and compliance with federal, state and local regulatory, licensing, and accrediting requirement changes affecting areas of responsibility; monitors survey readiness on a regular basis, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Participates in significant departmental initiatives. Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues.
- Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health and the Catholic Health Ministry.
