Job Duties:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Research and Prospecting:
- Identify potential grant opportunities from institutional funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar, tracking deadlines, requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Conduct research on funding trends and best practices related to youth experiencing homelessness.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic approach to grant funding in collaboration with the CDO and Government Grants Manager.
Grant Writing and Proposal Development:
- Draft compelling and well-researched grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
- Tailor proposals to meet funder guidelines and priorities.
- Work closely with program staff to gather necessary information, data, and success stories.
- Ensure timely submission of proposals, maintaining an organized record of submissions and correspondence.
- Enter all grant activities and related funder touchpoints into CHIL’s CRM
Grant Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and submit funder-required reports that demonstrate program outcomes and fiscal responsibility.
- Work with finance, programs, and Quality Improvements and Outcomes teams to collect and verify data for grant reports.
- Track reporting deadlines and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Manage reporting calendar to ensure staff has ample time to give requested metrics, both financial and programmatic.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work with Government Grants Manager and CDO to develop, refine and regularly update CHIL case statements, proposal boilerplate, and other grants materials.
- Support internal teams in aligning funding needs with grant opportunities.
- Participate in meetings with funders and other stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., English, nonprofit management, public administration, communications).
- Two to Four years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or related work.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear narratives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant management software (Raiser’s edge familiarity preferred).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Passion for CHIL's mission and commitment to serving young people experiencing homelessness.
