General Definition of Work
Orders and maintains balanced parts inventory with timely turnaround for the Fleet Maintenance Operation. Requires the ability to stock, organize, inventory, issue, label and control parts and tools entering and leaving the parts room. Work is performed under limited supervision of the Division Chief Mechanic and the Environmental Management Director.

Essential Functions
Forecasts part needs based upon fleet make-up.
Monitors the inventory of parts and supplies.
Orders parts to maintain satisfactory inventory levels.
Shops multiple vendors to find best quality and price.
Establishes periodic price comparisons when shopping for parts.
Receives, labels, and places parts in inventory.
Returns parts to vendors as needed.
Checks and reconciles invoices and account statements.
Collaborates with technicians to ensure all parts are available for repair jobs.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices and procedures; general knowledge of standard office equipment; ability to understand industry, organization, and departmental legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinance and laws; ability to understand maintenance manuals, work orders, and part diagrams; ability to understand maintenance reports, invoices, purchase orders, and shipping labels; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with technicians and supervisors; ability to operate light automotive vehicles safely.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and three to five years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and speaking or hearing, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to disagreeable elements such as dust, heat, fumes, noise and vibration; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State and Federal records.
Valid driver’s license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history (MVR).
Must learn Fleet software within 6 months of hire.
