Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating transportation operations, ensuring timely delivery of freight, and maintaining effective communication with drivers and clients. This position will also maintain appropriate trucking records for company fleet and drivers. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments using transportation management systems.
- Monitor the status of shipments and ensure timely delivery through effective use of GPS tracking.
- Communicate with drivers to provide updates, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to schedules.
- Utilize software such as Samsara for dispatching and logistics management.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including pickup and delivery times.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of vehicle inspections, insurance and registrations
- Quote loads using 3rd party brokers and delivery.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to optimize routes and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving any transportation-related concerns.
- Assist in warehouse inventory.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching or logistics preferred.
- Strong understanding of freight operations and transportation management systems.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Familiarity with GPS technology and its application in logistics.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficient in using software tools such as Samara is a plus.
- A background in supply chain management or related fields is advantageous.
- Ability to take instructions well.
- Knowledge of trucking regulations, IFTA filing requirements, etc.
