Summary
This position is responsible for all patient contact and collection processes in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Cozad Community Health System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Greets and directs patients.
· Handles collection activity needing done with a patient, including but not limited to:
o Taking payments
o Sending patient letters
o Managing patient accounts
o Issuing back payments to patients who pay their accounts in full.
· Handles and monitors any loans that need set up and turned into the bank.
· Sets up and monitors monthly payment contracts with patients.
· Works with Human Resources to set up employee deductions.
· Answers patient questions regarding bills, payments, and contracts.
· Follows procedures to determine when patient accounts are noted as Bad Debt and transferred to collection agency.
· Handles all insurance and patient refunds.
· Serves as the point of contact for third-party payers.
· Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety.
· Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment.
· May serve as a back-up for accounts payable and payroll.
· Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Credit/collections experience required. Computer experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Basic Life Support (CPR)
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with patients and employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
