Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The Visitor Services & Membership Coordinator at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of visitor services; supervising a team of part-time Visitor Experience Associates; developing and implementing long-term visitor services best practices; and managing membership and cultivating new members in conjunction with University Advancement. The successful Visitor Services & Membership Coordinator will be self-motivated, highly organized, and possessing excellent oral and written communication and team-management skills. Works closely with and reports to the Manager of Marketing, Communications & Visitor Services; works closely with Museum security; supervises part-time Visitor Experience Associates. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Manager of Marketing, Communications & Visitor Services, manage part-time visitor services staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, processing payroll, supervising, and monitoring performance. In alignment with the Museum’s mission and values, and in collaboration with the Manager of Marketing, Communications & Visitor Services, develop best practices for welcoming and visitor-friendly services with particular focus on accessibility; ongoing training about the Museum, its collections, and its programs; workshops aimed to build and enhance the skills of visitor services staff; and frontline efficiencies in collaboration with the Security department. Perform day-to-day administration of visitor services department, including tracking visitor data, managing supply inventory and ordering, and overseeing visitor services expenses. In conjunction with University Advancement, manage and develop the membership program, including evaluating and implementing strategies for building and sustaining membership. Perform day-to-day administration of the membership program, including initiating donor communications, renewal letters, welcome packets, and acknowledgement letters; maintaining the membership database; and tracking gift income and membership statistics. Plan and facilitate member events, including private previews at exhibition openings and other VIP events. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Supervisory experience. Familiarity with museums or higher education institutions. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people and nurture an equitable, inclusive, and accessible visitor environment. Experience with membership databases. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent team-building and supervisory skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, working collaboratively. Ability to establish and maintain a welcoming environment for visitors to the museum. Ability to interact professionally with university partners and museum constituents, including donors, VIP guests, and service providers. Available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certification. Three years of relevant experience. Three years of customer service or related experience. Grade G08-H Salary Range $20.15 - $31.26 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
