Job Description
Role-specific accountabilities:
- Drive end-to-end execution of due diligence and negotiation of investment opportunities, portfolio company strategic and value creation initiatives, and internal strategic projects, serving as a team lead with oversight responsibility over deal and project teams.
- Oversee the process of evaluating investment opportunities, including leading development of key investment theses, workplan development, allocation and oversight of workstreams and responsibilities, and project management.
- Manage, direct, coach, mentor, and advise junior professionals on the Technology, Media & Telecom (“TMT”) team and on project-specific teams comprised of individuals across the Direct Private Equity group.
- Provide feedback to junior professionals on their professional development and work product.
- Provide input to annual year-end performance measurement, calibration, and compensation decisions for junior professionals across the Direct Private Equity group.
- Lead and oversee key project workstreams, including commercial and financial due diligence, the development of complex dynamic financial models, and valuation analyses.
- Lead relationships and day-to-day interactions with third party advisors and consultants, including law firms, accounting firms, consulting firms, and investment banks, as well as company management teams.
- Drive end-to-end execution of portfolio company exits, including public market listings, sales to financial sponsors, and sales to strategic parties.
- Lead and oversee the development of internal investment memoranda and recommendations.
- Play a key role in investment committee discussions.
- Negotiate transaction and governance agreements and other transaction-related legal documentation.
- Oversee ongoing financial and operating performance of portfolio companies, including through board participation and representation.
- Build and maintain relationships with portfolio company management teams.
- Lead the development of internal materials to disseminate key portfolio company updates and recommendations.
- Source investment opportunities through preparing subsector and company primers to identify attractive market subsectors and trends, companies of interest, and investing partners, and presenting findings.
- Develop origination strategies and approaches. Identify attractive market subsectors, companies of interest, and relevant investing partners, serving as a working team lead with oversight of subsector teams.
- Develop and nurture relationships with management teams and investing partners.
- Build industry knowledge and stay current on industry developments and trends. Interview prospective new analysts or associates to assess fit in support of team recruiting efforts.
- Participate in strategic initiatives to support the achievement of Direct Private Equity group and Private Equity department goals.
- Perform private equity investing and portfolio company asset management in the technology and/or financial services sectors.
- Execute private equity control transactions (leveraged buyouts) valued in excess of $2 billion enterprise value and equity investments greater than $500 million per investment.
- Work with Microsoft Office 365, CapitalIQ, SNL Financial (S&P CapitalIQ Pro), Workday, Qualtrics, Protegent, ServiceNow, and PeopleFluent.
- Work with third party management consultants.
- Perform portfolio company asset management in the property and casualty insurance industry.
- Lead due diligence workstreams for new investments, including developing key hypotheses and objectives, developing workstream scopes, performing analyses, and developing and defending conclusions and recommendations.
- Lead and/or support workstreams related to portfolio company value creation and strategic initiatives, including development of management incentive programs and evaluation and execution of follow-on investments.
- Identify and manage relevant third-party advisors as part of due diligence workstreams for new investments and workstreams related to portfolio company value creation and strategic initiatives.
- Lead analyses and preparation of materials for portfolio company valuation, to be used both internally and at portfolio company boards.
- Build company operating models and leveraged buyout models for investments, including asset-light business models and capital-heavy business models.
- Develop investment memos and recommendations and present to investment committees.
- Oversee ongoing financial and operating performance of portfolio companies. Prepare internal materials to communicate portfolio company updates and recommendations.
- Participate in portfolio company boards as a board observer.
- Conduct expert calls to support subsector and company research, including interview question list design and oversight.
- Work with expert networks to develop lists of relevant experts.
The salary range for this position is $273,770.00 - $350,800.00 per year.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field of study, plus five (5) years of experience with private equity investing and portfolio company asset management in the technology and/or financial services sectors;
- Private equity control transactions (leveraged buyouts) valued in excess of $2 billion enterprise value and equity investments greater than $500 million per investment;
- Microsoft Office 365; CapitalIQ; SNL Financial (S&P CapitalIQ Pro); Workday; Qualtrics; Protegent; ServiceNow; PeopleFluent;

The base salary range shown here is a reasonable expectation for the posted role and is part of a competitive total rewards package which includes comprehensive benefits, a performance-based incentive plan, a 401 (k) plan and paid time off.
