Role Summary:
This Accounting Clerk applies principles of cost and project accounting to enter, invoice, and record revenue recognition for Projects and invoices customer orders. This position investigates and determines the % complete compared to budgets for projects and enters costs against projects as required. The Cost Accountant assists in any activities related to invoicing, sales tax, revenue recognition, and costing, ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
· Supports manufacturing accounting function including general accounting, cost accounting, project accounting, and sales tax.
· Review all costs including labor, material, burden, expense items, work in process inventory, and profit and loss.
· Enter costs against job orders and projects as required for items like expenses and freight.
· Closes job and service orders associated with invoicing.
· Assists Sales with Schedule of Values for projects and prepares AIA payment submissions.
· Calculates and invoices Intercompany Invoicing.
· Maintain job cost system for engineered products and assist in the analysis of the profitability of those products.
· Monitors schedules and ensures invoices and invoice milestones are processed timely.
· Prepares reports related to invoicing for controller for month end closing journal entries.
· Records project cost information for analysis and distribution to other departments.
· Reviews freight invoices for billing purposes and directs A/P on how to process.
· Other Accounting duties as needed.
Competencies:
· Computer experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
· Experience with Bill of Materials, Standard Cost, Job Cost, Project Accounting, Average Cost, and Sales Tax.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, markups and volume.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents and correspondence such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and associates.
· Comply with company rules, policies and safety/environmental regulations.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years’ experience in related field. Associate’s degree is preferred.

Travel may be required within Crane Equipment & Service, Inc.’s domestic footprint

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to sit, talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally will need to move or lift items over 10 pounds.
