Job Title: Engineering Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Summary:
Responsible for leading and overseeing the Cranemasters team of engineers which facilitates the design, development, and support of manufacturing and operational projects. Provides technical expertise to engineering team. Communicates with stakeholders on technical aspects of projects. Collaborate with leadership on engineering scope of project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful execution while maintaining compliance with safety and industry standards. Work in partnership cross-functionally with operations, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to provide technical guidance and problem-solving expertise. With a strong background in engineering principles, leadership, and project management, they drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, optimize processes, and meet company objectives.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
- Track project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to align project goals. Partner with manufacturing and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and improve product quality.
- Provide technical direction and ensure engineering designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Approve design changes, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices and advancements in crane engineering. Attend trade shows and conferences and make site visits to suppliers’ facilities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and career growth support.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that supports continuous improvement.
- Manage staffing, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Collaborate with sales, procurement, and supply chain teams to support product development and customer requirements.
- Develop and manage engineering budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation. Evaluate and procure necessary tools, software, and equipment for engineering activities.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable safety standards, regulations, and company policies. Conduct daily Job Safety Breifing. Promote a strong safety culture within the team and support continuous safety improvements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance engineering processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure engineering effectiveness.

Necessary Skills & Knowledge:
Strong leadership and team management abilities. Ability to mentor and develop engineers. Conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
Deep understanding of mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering principles, particularly in heavy machinery or crane design.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, OSHA) and crane-specific regulations.
Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project). Data analysis skills to track and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs).
Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously.
Budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation expertise.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
7-10 years of engineering experience, preferably in heavy machinery, construction equipment, or crane manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in both design engineering and manufacturing support.
Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects from concept to completion.
Understanding of crane systems, including hoisting, rigging, and material handling solutions.
Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance in the manufacturing and crane industry
Familiarity with operational challenges in a manufacturing environment.
Professional Engineer (PE) License.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
Lean Six Sigma Certification.
