The Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Game Development and Immersive Media. The Department seeks an innovative and dedicated educator and practitioner whose skill sets include :
- Primary expertise in game development using such engines as Unity and Unreal;
- Ability to produce a variety of content-driven VR / XR projects;
- Ability to create virtual assets;
- Interest in exploring related fields such as VR production.
In addition to robust technical skills, the successful candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of how games / immersive experiences / storytelling are used to create meaning, to educate and entertain. Successful candidates will also understand the role of play through a broader lens of interaction and user experience design. The appointment begins August 22, 2024 with a mandatory 2-day orientation August 22 & 23, 2024.

This position is located at the Boston campus teaching in-person classes, though there may be opportunities to teach undergraduate classes online. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentorship, and serving on department and college committees.
