SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist provides overall human resources and benefit administrative support to the assigned location. This role is responsible for benefit administration, staffing, recruitment, and general administration of HR policies and practices. The Generalist actively analyzes and recommends changes to moderately complex location practices and ensures consistent application of HR laws, regulations, and company policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-service focused, a problem-solver, and has a strong overall knowledge of HR practices, laws, and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage employee benefits programs, including answering questions, enrolling new hires, assisting with open enrollment, and ensuring accurate benefit data in HR systems. Provide guidance on available benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, including FMLA, FLSA, and EEO. Maintain and organize employee files, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and compliance-related documents.
- Lead the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, interviewing, and onboarding new employees. Collaborate with department managers to assess staffing needs and ensure the hiring process is efficient. Achieve time-to-fill goals as established for each posted position.
- Maintain and update the HRIS system to ensure accurate employee records. Conduct bi-weekly audits and troubleshoot HRIS functionality to guarantee data accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Support system updates and improvements as needed.
- Develop and execute strategies to manage employee turnover, aiming to maintain a turnover rate of no more than 10%. Work closely with department managers to identify trends and underlying causes of turnover, implement retention programs, and foster a positive work environment. Regularly assess turnover data and provide actionable insights to improve employee satisfaction and engagement.
- Publish and distribute a monthly employee newsletter.
- Plan coordinate and execute at least 3-4 major employee events annually by organizing and leading monthly Activities Committee meetings.
- Coordinate and take notes for monthly Employee Council meetings. Based on feedback collected, implement actionable plans to improve overall employee satisfaction Performance Management: Support managers in performance reviews, coaching, and managing employee performance. Ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Provide ongoing HR support to employees and managers, including guidance on policies, conflict resolution, and performance management. Assist with employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives.
- Lead or assist in the execution of various HR-related projects, such as employee surveys, retention initiatives, or community outreach programs. Perform other duties as assigned by the HR Manager or senior leadership.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in HR systems and tools, ADP experience preferred.
- Knowledge of benefits administration.
- Experience recruiting in a manufacturing setting.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist role or similar, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
