Founded in 2018, CRFW is the 35th school in the Cristo Rey Network, an association of 39 schools dedicated to preparing students for attending and graduating from four-year colleges and universities. What You’ll Do

The Dean of Student Support and Academic Success plays a critical role in fostering a culture of academic excellence and student support. The Dean oversees student discipline, attendance, academic interventions, and student accommodations. The person will work closely with students, families, faculty, and staff to ensure student success inside and outside the classroom. This person works closely as a member of the Academic leadership team to keep all parties fully informed on all important aspects of the status and development of student academic and behavioral support needs to ensure transparent and effective oversight of the organization as a whole, especially in achieving our student-focused mission. The dean’s core responsibilities include :

Student Discipline & Behavior Management

  • Investigate and follow up on student discipline matters, ensuring appropriate consequences in collaboration with the Principal and Student Handbook guidelines
  • Trains teachers on the use of a digital hall pass system
  • Works closely with the Dean of Student Culture and Counseling to provide student guidance and support
  • Maintains accurate discipline and behavior records documentation
  • Gathers data, creates reports, and provides analysis for the Academic Administration / Leadership team regarding student discipline and behavior data, including as needed Principal requested reports
  • Supervises discipline policies, including student contracts, remediations or detentions, suspensions, and restorative practices
  • Establishes a strong school culture of engagement, trust, and respect among students, faculty, and parents
  • Monitors student attendance and tardiness, implementing intervention plans and student contracts when needed
  • Organizes parent meetings for students with chronic absenteeism and creates attendance improvement plans
  • Manages attendance reporting and through gathering information, inputting data, creating reports, and providing analysis
  • Manages parent communication regarding daily attendance concerns
  • Student Success & Academic Support

  • Develops and oversees academic intervention programs, including tutoring, summer school, and study halls
  • Tracks student academic progress, analyzes data, and works with teachers to support struggling students at the Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III levels
  • Facilitates student assessments and implements personalized Student Support Plans (SSPs)
  • Oversees the credit recovery program
  • Manages support programs and provides support to students with academic support needs, including IEPs, 504s, and English Language Learners or ELL (English as New Language or ENL and Emergent Bilingual or EB) accommodations
  • Works closely with the ENL Specialist in supporting students who are learning English as a second language
  • Manages eligibility lists for extracurricular participation and ensures academic compliance
  • Faculty & Staff Collaboration

  • Conducts classroom observations and provides instructional coaching to teachers as it relates to behavioral and student support expectations
  • Assists in planning and executing professional development for faculty
  • Works with Grade-Level Chairs to support student success, including regular check-ins, meeting facilitation, coaching and feedback, and executing Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III interventions
  • Student & Parent Engagement

  • Plans and executes student awards ceremonies and recognition events
  • Coordinates student supervision, including before school, lunch, and after-school duties
  • Maintains proactive and transparent communication with parents regarding student progress
  • Supports faith-based student activities, including Mass, retreats, and prayer initiatives
  • Manages Student-Led Conferences (SLCs)
  • School Orientation and Uniforms

  • Plans and executes new student orientation in collaboration with the Academic Leadership team and the Admissions and Operations teams (Registrar)
  • Oversees school uniforms policies, adherence to policies by both adults and students
  • Ensures students have necessary attire and coordinates uniform needs as well as any uniform resales
  • Assistant Testing Coordinator Support

  • Assists the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction in coordinating College Board assessments, including PSAT, SAT, and AP exams
  • Supports test administration, logistics, and student accommodations
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure a smooth testing process
  • Maintains compliance with College Board regulations and school testing policies
  • Communicates with students and families regarding testing schedules and requirements
  • Academic Leadership & College Counseling Support

  • Works closely with the Academic Leadership team and College Initiatives office to ensure students have the necessary credits for graduation
  • Supports high school transcript management and verification processes
  • Assists in tracking student progress toward graduation requirements
  • Utilizes Rediker software for academic records management, attendance tracking, and student information systems
  • Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Utilizes data to identify student needs, monitor progress, and evaluate program effectiveness
  • Creates reports and materials to represent the gathered data
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports schoolwide programming assisting in supervision of student life opportunities like retreats, sporting events, clubs, and other activities
  • Assists in supervision on campus to be present and build relationships with students
  • Maintains a positive and effective relationship with supervisors
  • Acknowledges and supports the developmental and educational benefits of the school’s Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP)
  • Participates in Admissions Interviews and Admissions events such as Orientations and Open Houses
  • Attends school community celebrations and events
  • Attends and participates in school liturgies, prayer services, and retreats; being present to supervise at assigned athletic and extracurricular events
  • Attends Baccalaureate Mass and graduation
  • Provides supervisory support to the Campus Ministry, Fine Arts, and Athletic Departments in conjunction with the Principal and other Deans
  • Professional Presence

  • Participate in continuing professional development, including school-wide and department-specific offerings and initiatives for instruction and student support
  • Participate actively with a growth mindset in our learning organization through collaboration with colleagues in a range of contexts and regular weekly meetings involving student-oriented, solution-focused problem solving, and public practice and feedback
  • Partner with the full Cristo Rey community to further the mission as a college preparatory school, including supporting student life activities, admissions, college programs, and supervisory needs
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Principal
  • Works closely with the Principal and other Academic Administrators as a member of the Academic Leadership / Academic Administrator team
  • Assumes the role of the Principal in the absence of both the Principal and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction
  • Reports to the Principal
  • Who You Are

  • Master’s degree in the field from an accredited university
  • Educational Leadership or Education or related field
  • Strong background in student discipline, academic support, and intervention strategies
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Cristo Rey Fort Worth High School
  • Commitment to Catholic, faith-based education and values
  • Commitment to a to and through four year college plan for every student
  • Able to Connect with culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families
  • Proficient in using technology to advance teaching and learning (Google Suite at minimum) and ability to learn systems (Rediker, Securly)
  • Adaptable and able to be flexible in an entrepreneurial, educational nonprofit
  • Available to begin working in March 2025 of the current school year (2024-2025) and able to work a longer school year
  • Complete VIRTUS training, sign a Code of Conduct, and pass a background check
  • A minimum of 2 years of successful high school teaching or leading experience in an urban or Catholic school secondary education setting preferred
  • Experience with coaching and evaluating faculty and staff
  • Experience with English Language Learners preferred
