What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Critical Air Technologies?
Critical Air Technologies, a technical sales company, is looking to fill Technical Sales/Business Development positions in the greater San Diego area. Our clients are Mechanical Contractors, Controls Contractors, Mechanical Engineering Firms, and Building Owners. This is an entry level technical sales position. It is a transitional role in which the position will be mentored by the Regional Senior Business Development Representative. The interim position will be responsible for a customized combination of outside sales and support responsibilities. The primary objective is to grow into an independent Business Development Representative. At which time the primary objective will be to develop strong relationships with new and existing clients to boost sales and drive sustainable financial growth within the assigned territory.
Initially, all responsibilities will include shadowing the Regional Business Development Representative and as growth progresses a customized combination of mentored and independent work will develop for the following primary responsibilities of an independent Business Development Representative:
- Provide project management support to project stakeholders by reviewing floorplans, selecting products, quoting, and publishing submittal packages prior to purchase. Provide post-purchase support by communicating shipment details and coordinating installation.
- Maintain customer relationships with contractors, engineers, and owners in the Lab, healthcare, and research concentrations.
- Network and build new relationships with project stakeholders.
- Market the Critical Air Tech brands through social event sponsorships and assisting in product-specific Lunch & Learns to stakeholders.
The role is hybrid remote with the expectation of daily driving and meeting attendance within the greater San Diego area. The best candidates will have some experience or education in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC Mechanical Sales. All candidates must have the desire to understand technical products and the construction industry.

- Interpersonal skills; much of the role is highly outgoing & must be willing to meet new people and build connections
- Data Entry and Document Management skills: quick and accurate documentation of important details for ordering, billing, and future reference, must be well organized.
- Memory: You’ll need to be able to recall small details from a variety of accounts and projects including names, relationships, orders, and more.
Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
