What are the responsibilities and job description for the Earthwork Construction Foreperson position at Crooker Construction?
As one of Midcoast Maine’s premier earthwork and paving contractors, Crooker Construction has been building careers since 1935. Many of our current employees have over 20 years of service at Crooker and we’re looking to add an experienced earthwork construction foreperson to the team.
The primary responsibility of the earthwork construction foreperson is to manage on-site crews and equipment, working closely with the site superintendent and project manager to ensure earthwork items and projects get done efficiently and on-schedule. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reading plans, basic project layout, calculating and ordering materials, coordinating with subcontractors, conducting daily safety reviews with the crew, entering daily time for the crew, and performing all required aspects of on-site work.
Heavy focus on underground utility work, previous experience installing waterline, sanitary sewer and storm drain piping is preferred. Experience operating equipment, primarily excavator, is preferred.
The position is full-time, year-round. Company truck included.
Requirements for all candidates:
· Must have strong communication skills with the ability to manage and positively motivate a crew
· Must have strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities
· Must have a working knowledge of all OSHA standards and requirements
· Must have a strong work ethic, the ability to work in a team environment and be willing to assist other crew members
· Must be organized, self-motivated, and willing to work the necessary schedule which may include long hours, nights, and/or weekends
· Must have a valid driver’s license
· 3-5 years of construction experience, with a minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisor role preferred
