Crossroads4Hope (CR4H), a national nonprofit headquartered in Bedminster, NJ, aims to change this paradigm. For over two decades, we have been improving the lives of people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones, bridging critical care gaps often overlooked by traditional healthcare. We envision a world where everyone has access to cancer care that prioritizes the needs of the whole person and their entire family, no matter who you are or where you live. Guided by social work principles, we take on the cancer journey with all those impacted, providing at no charge a network of information, resources, support, and professionals fundamental to living through and beyond cancer with strength and hope.
This position is in Bedminster, NJ, and requires reliable transportation to be in the office at least three days a week.
Position Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff is a newly created position reporting to the CEO. The role is a catalyst for change, working with the leadership team to help architect systems, optimize operations, and high-impact initiatives that scale the reach and impact of our mission. This position ensures operational excellence, strategic alignment, and continuous innovation, driving a whole-person and family-focused approach to supportive cancer care. This position oversees two direct reports and leads cross-functional project teams influencing organizational stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership, Execution & Impact
- Drive strategic planning, aligning clinical operations, outreach, education, and fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Lead environmental scanning, goal setting, and performance measurement to ensure sustained growth and impact.
- Identify new opportunities for program expansion, partnerships, and revenue diversification.
- Guide organizational strategy, policy development, and mission-critical decision-making with the senior leadership team.
- Design and implement innovative processes and systems that enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.
- Leverage data-driven insights to evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous innovation in our public health and cancer support model.
Operational & Financial Oversight
- Oversee daily operations, team performance, and key initiatives, ensuring measurable impact and operational excellence.
- Manage process improvement and efficiency optimization to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance service delivery.
- Manage budgets, financial forecasting, and resource allocation to drive sustainable growth.
- Ensures compliance with nonprofit regulations, risk management protocols, administration, facilities, and technology best practices.
Culture, Communication & Team Leadership
- Act as a key liaison between the CEO, staff, Board, and external partners, ensuring transparency and alignment on strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, inspiring a high-performing team.
- Lead internal communication efforts to ensure clarity on mission, priorities, and key developments.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, public health, healthcare, or a mission-driven sector.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to manage people and lead teams, drive cross-functional collaboration, and manage change effectively.
- Process Optimization: Six Sigma or equivalent expertise, with a demonstrated track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiency.
- Strategic & Innovative Problem Solving: Self-directed thinker with a proven ability to solve complex problems, identify patterns, and leverage insights for strategic decisions.
- Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic, ambiguous environments, demonstrating flexibility and resilience.
- Self-Initiative: Proven ability to work independently and drive results.
- Project Excellence: Adept at managing multiple high-impact projects with precision.
- Communication & Relationship Building: Strong ability to build trust and foster collaboration.
- CRM & Digital Proficiency: Experience with CRM (Salesforce preferred) and digital project management tools.

Salary Range $90,000- $115,000
