Position Title: Marketing and Gallery Coordinator
Position Type: Part-Time, Hourly - 20-30 hrs per week
Compensation: $16 - $20/hr, plus benefits including generous PTO and 14 paid holidays
Location: Pendleton, OR. This role requires on-site attendance and is not a remote or hybrid position.
Schedule: Fall/Winter: Monday through Friday. Spring/Summer: Tuesday through Saturday. Occasional evenings may be required for meetings and events. This schedule may change based on business needs.

Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts (CSIA) provides a creative conduit for educational, social, and economic opportunities for Native Americans through artistic development. Its vision is to elevate and illuminate the world through the genius of Indigenous creativity.
Position Overview
Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts seeks a dynamic, outgoing, and highly organized individual to serve as our Marketing and Gallery Coordinator. This part-time role will play a key role in marketing efforts, managing gallery visits, coordinating exhibition loans, and supporting print sales. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the arts, highly detail-oriented, and possess a strong interest in Native American art and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing and Communications
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote CSIA’s programs, exhibitions, and print sales.
- Create compelling content for social media, email newsletters, and other digital platforms
- Maintain and update the CSIA website with relevant information on a regular basis
- Design and distribute promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, and press releases
- Create and maintain a comprehensive list of promotional outlets, and ensure all events and initiatives are communicated to the public in a timely manner through those outlets
- Create and send digital newsletters, and maintain associated mailing lists
- Create and maintain media contact lists
- Take photos and video during events, workshops, and residencies for promotional purposes
Gallery Management
- Answer phones, greet walk-in visitors, and schedule and facilitate gallery visits for individual guests and groups
- Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, providing knowledgeable and engaging tours of the gallery and studio
- Ensure the gallery space and associated public-facing spaces are clean, tidy, functional, and accessible
- Assist with online and in-person sales of CSIA prints, workshop registrations, and merchandise
- Maintain accurate sales records and manage inventory for prints and merchandise
Exhibition Loans and Coordination
- Work with institutions to coordinate loans of CSIA’s permanent collection for exhibitions
- Coordinate logistics for shipping/delivery, loan agreements, condition reports, and insurance documentation
- Collaborate with artists and curators to ensure proper representation of CSIA’s mission and values in external exhibitions
General Duties
- Create monthly sales, visitor, and marketing reports to be presented to the Board of Directors
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:
- A strong interest in Native American art, culture, and the mission of Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and provide clear, engaging tours or presentations
- Proven organizational skills, with an ability to self-direct daily work, prioritize tasks, manage details, and meet deadlines consistently
- Experience in roles requiring public interaction, such as customer service, education, event coordination, or retail, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused mindset. Experience in a fine arts environment is a plus
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability to shifting priorities or challenges.
- Comfort with or a willingness to learn digital tools for marketing, inventory management, and communications, including website platforms, social media, and graphic design software (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite).
- A commitment to supporting Indigenous creativity and excellence through Crow’s Shadow’s programs and activities
- Positive attitude and willingness to take on new and varied projects to contribute to the success of CSIA
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities is highly desirable, with an emphasis on Native and Indigenous connections and communities
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for special events and seasonal business changes as needed.
- Ability to represent the organization in a positive, professional manner to all constituents, the media, and the general public
- Ability to work independently, complete tasks, and meet deadlines
- Ability to keep sensitive information in strict confidence
- Comfort with technology, including Google Workspace, email, and calendar software
- Ability to work in person in an office and gallery environment, which may include sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25lbs
