What are the responsibilities and job description for the QSN: Middle School (SEL) Counselor position at Crowley ISD?
- Degree in counseling, social-work, Child-development, education, or a related field (required).
- Teacher Coaching & Professional Development:Train and mentor teachers in integrating SEL competencies into instruction and classroom management. Provide conflict resolution training to teachers.
- Student Engagement & Support: Provide one-on-one counseling for students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. Facilitate restorative circles between teachers, parents, and students to resolve conflicts and strengthen relationships. Provide mediation for students struggling with conflict resolution.
- Crisis Prevention & Intervention: Provide crisis interventions related to grief, trauma, or family emergencies.Conduct suicide risk assessments and ensure appropriate interventions.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Use qualitative and quantitative data to assess the effectiveness of SEL programs and inform continuous improvement.
- Family & Community Engagement: Partner with parents, guardians, and community organizations to extend SEL practices beyond the classroom.Provide or connect families with community resources to ensure basic needs are met (e.g., food, shelter, medical care, clothing, school supplies).
- Trauma-Informed Practices: Promote awareness and application of trauma-informed approaches to support students’ mental and emotional well-being. Support students who have experienced trauma by creating a safe, responsive school culture.
- Degree in counseling, social-work, Child-development, education, or a related field (required).
- Experience working with middle school students, especially in Social Emotional Learning and academic support.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage students, families, and educators.

- Salary will be adjusted to start date.
- Stipends include additional days during the program academic year as outlined in the stipend agreement.
