We have an immediate opening for a Construction / Project Accountant. This role is responsible for following progress and large projects from contract through final billing and collections, ensuring compliance and profitability.
This job requires working closely with PMs and associated project groups, as well as developing relationships with customers.
This position reports to the Controller
The candidate will have a proven track record in project accounting.
Duties
- Review contracts-understand terms & billing requirements.
- Initiate customer accounting contact to ensure excellent communication throughout project.
- Set up budgets and timelines in QB's. Track and report variances to budget and progress to Management & PMs.
- Create forecasts detailing timing of expected revenue & expense
- Prepare pre-liens, follow SOV and reconcile to QB's, monitor and track Change Orders, prepare & submit AIA billing & supplier waivers per terms of the contract. Create invoices in QB's.
- Monitor AR & Cash Flow. Maintain AR Board on Monday.com. Work with customers to ensure timely payments. Responsible for devising collection plans as needed.
- Track and report Gross Margins for all jobs - monthly and upon request
- Develop WIP Schedules
- Month-end close tasks, including AR reconciliation
- Other tasks as needed
Experience
- BS/BA/AA in accounting/finance/business
- A minimum of 2-4 year’s experience with AIA billing
- Proficient with Excel, QuickBooks Desktop, Monday.com & Microsoft Office
- Experience with construction payment software to include Textura, GC Pay, Flashtract, SupplyPro, & Pro-Core.
- Proven track record of developing systems to optimize workflows and create efficiencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to work with internal & external stakeholders
- Flexible, ability to adjust procedures to best achieve goals of growing organization
- Willingness to learn new software applications
- High volume, fast paced environment. Requires employee to be on-line and available to communicate during regular business hours (Mon-Fri 7:30-4:00).
- High level of organization, attention to detail, ability to work independently and achieve deadlines
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $68,640 to $83,200
- One week’s vacation per year

The position has the option to be remote 4 days/week & in the Modesto office (main office) 1 day/week.
Requires bi-monthly travel to the Reno, NV office.

Pay: $68,640.00 - $83,200.00 per year
