THE POSITION
Reporting Structure: The HR Generalist will report to the Manager - Human Resources
Role and Responsibilities
The HR Generalist supports assigned business units by serving as the go-to partner for employee relations, performance coaching and talent development. This role plays a key part in building high-performing teams through proactive guidance, policy consistency, and HR program execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- HR Partnership – Serve as the first point of contact for employees and leaders across business units, providing day-to-day HR support
- Leadership Coaching – Guide leaders through performance reviews, accountability conversations and underperformance issues
- Employee Relations – Ensure consistency and compliance in disciplinary actions and terminations, supporting ADA, FMLA and leave matters
- Compensation & Reviews – Drive timely completion of 90-day and annual performance review cycles
- Training & Orientation – Deliver HR practice and leadership training while supporting onboarding through system guidance
- Continuous Improvement – Implement process improvements to streamline HR delivery and enhance employee experience
- Policy & Compliance – Interpret CRST policy and employment law to support decisions and mitigate risk
- Talent & Engagement – Support succession planning, employee engagement efforts and workforce development strategies
- Decision-Making – Make independent decisions on routine matters and collaborate on complex situations
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
- 0–3 years of HR experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field
- SHRM-CP certification
- Strong understanding of employee relations and employment law
- Ability to coach and influence leaders on accountability and performance
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and case management tools
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
