Job Description
As a Prescribed Fire and Fuels Specialist with CSKT Fire Management, you will be responsible for managing and executing prescribed burns to maintain forest health and reduce wildfire risk. You will conduct fuel assessments and develop plans for fuels reduction projects, collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective wildland fire management strategies, and develop and implement educational programs to promote fire safety and prevention. You will work closely with incident command teams to respond to wildfires and other emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, range management, or a related field
- Two years of experience in prescribed fire and fuels management
- Red card qualification as a Firing Boss (FIRB) trainee
- Prior wildland firefighting experience on the fireline
- Valid State of Montana driver's license
- Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) and Single Resource Boss (CRWB, ENGB, HEQB, FELB) qualifications
Working Conditions
- Work in a fast-paced environment with variable weather conditions
- Travel to remote locations for prescribed burns and emergency responses
- May be required to work long hours, including nights and weekends
