Job Description
Summary:
The Weld Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welded components and assemblies. This role involves performing a variety of inspections, tests, and analyses to identify and rectify any defects or non-conformities. The technician will work closely with welding operators, engineers, and quality assurance personnel to maintain high standards of quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Visual Inspection: Conduct thorough visual inspections of welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, and lack of fusion.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and any corrective actions taken.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and enforce welding procedures and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.
- Problem-Solving: Identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Calibration and Maintenance: Ensure that inspection equipment and tools are calibrated and maintained to industry standards.
- Training: Provide training to welding personnel on quality standards and inspection techniques.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in weld quality inspection or related field.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of welding processes and metallurgy.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environments, including manufacturing floors and outdoor areas.
